Healing Is Not Linear

Healing Isn't Linear Blog

In 2022, I started on a journey to uncover the mystery behind my health challenges, only to discover I have mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD). I vividly remember the uncertainty that loomed over each new symptom, the relentless cycle of medications and doctor visits, and the overwhelming amount of tests. It was a rollercoaster of emotions – from tears of frustration to moments of sheer hopelessness. I felt like the person I once was slipping away, yearning for clarity about what was happening to my body.

Then, in 2023, came the moment of revelation: my diagnosis. While part of me was filled with excitement at finally having answers, I soon realized that the road to healing wasn't going to be a straight path. It was a journey marked by trial and error, where finding the right treatment took longer than I had anticipated. Each medication brought its own set of challenges, yet through perseverance and the unwavering support of my medical team, I eventually found what worked for me. It's a moment I am extremely grateful for.

To commemorate the one-year anniversary of my healing journey, I launched the "Healing Is Not Linear" shirt – a personal testament to the ups and downs inherent in the healing process. It serves as a reminder that healing unfolds in waves.

Every day still has its challenges, but there's one memory that stands out: our family trip to The Grand Canyon in Fall 2023. We had to postpone it the year before because of a flare-up from my MCTD, leaving me unable to walk for an extended period of time. I felt pure joy soaking in nature's beauty, feeling stronger compared to the year before!

To anyone navigating their own rough seas, whether it's physical or mental challenges, I want you to know that I'm cheering you on from the sidelines. Keep riding those waves, knowing that you are stronger than you think. 💚
