Behind the Name
Mahal,used as a noun in Tagalog translates into love. Ohana, in Hawaiian, translates into family. Embedded in the two words is Aloha, which in Hawaiian can translate into multiple meanings. It can be used as hello or goodbye as well as an expression of love and gratitude.We highlight the word Aloha in our logo to showcase the connection of love, gratitude and family throughout our business name.
Our Story
In 2022, Michelle faced a medical journey that put her physical body and mind to the test. Her family witnessed someone who was capable of juggling everything, suddenly struggle to face the world.
As a Graphic Designer, designing has always been a form of therapy. When she was at her most vulnerable she created two designs based on two sayings that she held onto for positivity, Faith over Fear and Grow Through What you Go Through. Michelle placed the designs on mugs to help reframe her mindset while she enjoyed her morning cup of coffee. This is what sparked the start of Mahal Ohana.
Our goal with Mahal Ohana is to create products that will encourage, uplift and bring joy to those facing difficult seasons in their life.
